Learning the ropes and solving the mysteries! What

Club Meetings |
|
Club meeting
dates are easy to remember. Unless you are
notified of a change or an occasional exception of the Annual Club Meeting
date in August, we always meet on the
Third Thursday
of each month. Members are always notified by mail of
the Annual Club Meeting date, place, and time. Except for the
President every member has one vote. The President will only vote in
event of a tie. Our Club meetings are important. Most
of Cowtown's major and all of it's minor issues are voted on at a general
monthly meeting. Why not bring your soapbox and come on down. We are
always looking for a few good ideas and a better way to build a
mousetrap. Your vote does count, but you need to be there to cast it!
Please see Meetings
for specific times and dates. |

Club Shirts and Hats
( More club
shirts and
hats will be
ordered in
2008.) |
|
Club shirt and hat styles are
usually voted on once a year at a monthly club meeting. We usually have
some Club Shirts
and Hats in stock. Order yours now! Button-down club shirts
will be available to Cowtown Members Only, but our Hats and
t-shirts are available to everyone. See
Cowtown Gear
for more information. Coming to monthly meetings is
like getting insider trading information. Learn the news first and
amaze your friends. Your vote might save us from having pink shirts
and striped hats one year.
Please see
Cowtown Gear for styles
and prices.
Note: Prices and availability are be subject to change. |

What's
the
Cowpatty? |
|
The Cowpatty is the Cowtown
Bowmen news letter. Each family membership or individual membership
should receive a copy by mail. There is a simple
Online Form
on the web site that you can use to submit information you would like to
have published in the Cowpatty. Our Editor is sitting on ready and
is anxiously waiting to receive your story about that last big hunting trip or
how you developed your own personal style of archery. When and where
was that archery benefit you wanted everyone to know about, and how
in the world did you ever get that arrow out of the practice bail
frame? You see what I mean. It doesn't have to be earth shaking news
to make the Cowpatty. Become a star reporter by sharing your news
with the membership and helping our Editor fill the pages.
Suggestions and ideas are also always welcome.
Please see
the
Cowpatty for an online form
or to contact the Editor. |

The Road Team
(We are
working on
getting more
patches and
shirts for
2008.) |
|
The Road Team always needs members!
You can be a Road Team member if you are a member of Cowtown, have a
Bow, and at least one Arrow. The Arrow being straight is optional.
You should at least be able to tolerate Archery and not feel
uncomfortable around Archers having fun. Some traveling in groups
could be involved, but this can also be optional. No one has ever
been thrown off the team for a bad score, since promoting Cowtown,
having fun, and fellowship is our main objective. You may purchase a
nifty Cowtown Road Team patch (at club cost of approximately $4.50)
to display on your shirt. We have club shirts so everyone will
be able to wear the patch in the same place. It fits nicely on the
left sleeve. The Team can meet at the Range and carpool to other
local shoots and far away places. They may even stop on the
way back and eat as a group. You don't have to shoot or join the
Road Team to travel with the group. Everyone is welcome. Join us and let's shoot some arrows! |
|
|
|
Road Team Patch:
Reserve yours now! The cost is approximately $4.50 per. patch. We will place
the patch on the left sleeve of our Club Shirt.
We also have some Road Team t-shirts available. See
Cowtown Gear for shirts
or patches.
Note: Prices and availability are subject to change. |

Work
Parties |
|
Unfortunately our club can not
afford to pay someone to maintain the Ranges and Grounds. We have
Work Parties in order to clean up, repair, get shooting lanes ready,
tackle new projects, and just get together to see what needs
attention. This is a great place to get to know your fellow club
members, and it's not hard if we all work together. You don't have
to stay all day and you can even come later than the posted start
time. Cowtown Bowmen is an Archery Club and not just an Archery
Facility so we appreciate members helping when they can.

Members
"Club Shoot"
Discount |
|
Members usually receive a $5.00
discount off the regular "Club Shoot" fees. Adult members and Youth
members 13 yrs. and older shoot Club Shoots for only $10.00. Youth
members 12yrs. and under shoot for FREE! There are usually about six Club Shoots so
that's at least a $30.00 savings off of your membership cost if you
shoot them all. If you have children? Wow! Are we paying you to
become a member?
Please Note: In order to
receive your $5.00 discount you will need to show your club
membership card or proof of membership when you register for a Club Shoot.
Please see
Club Shoots for specific times and dates. |

Members
Can Shoot Free |
|
Members can shoot free at our Club
3-D Shoots if they will come out a little early and help set up
targets and stay a little while after the shoot to help
put up the targets.
We will even throw in a little something to eat and drink. I know that some people thought little elves set up the ranges while
everyone was sleeping. Sorry, it's only club members. The good news
is it only takes a little while to do the setup/put-up if you have a
little help. Not a bad deal at
all, since it's fun too. It's a great way to get to know other
club members! We usually meet at the range by 7:00 am. or as soon after
as you can get there. Check with a Range Captain for exact times and
to see if anyone will be meeting for breakfast before they go
to the range. Breakfast is always optional.
Please see
Club Shoots for specific times and dates. |

Shoot an ASA
or IBO Qualifier FREE! |
|
Cowtown
Bowmen club members that come help set up, work at a Qualifier shoot one full day, or part of a couple
days, and help put up targets after the shoot ended, can shoot one day free. The club picks up the tab
for your shoot fee and will give you a little something to eat and
drink while you are working. We are always in need of help on
Friday before a Qualifier or other Major Event. I know most people have to work for a
living, but a lot of set up is done after work on Friday. Almost
everything has to be ready before we leave Friday night. Please
don't make us stay until 2:00 or 3:00 am. because no one came to
help on Friday. All the help needed is not just physical. There is
always a job for everyone regardless of age and/or physical
condition. The monthly meetings are usually where we find out who can
do what, and on which day. If you can help, but can't make the
meeting, give an Officer or Range Captain a call or send them a email. It's a family affair.
Join the family!

Events for specific times and dates. |

Officers
and Board
Members |
| What
do I get if I am elected to a Club Office or Board Position? If you
are elected as a Club Officer or Board Member you will receive a free Family /
Individual
membership for the following year starting January 1st. You will
also receive one free individual ASA or IBO membership for one year.
(Type of organization membership is determined each year by the
club. ASA/IBO
membership terms and durations are governed by those individual organization). You will
also receive the responsibility of the position you were elected to. That
means attending monthly Club Meetings, Special Board Meetings (when
necessary), Club Events, and serving your full term of office. You will
also receive the responsibility to oversee and present Cowtown
Bowmen Archery Club in a manner the membership, as well as the
archery community would be proud of. We do have on the job training.
All we need is you!
NOTE: You must be a current member in good
standing to be nominated for an Office or Board position. The office
of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer require a
minimum of one years prior membership. Please see
Officers for a list of positions
and the current Club Officers and Board Members. |

Membership Dues |
|
2008 Membership
dues will be $55.00 per Individual / Family Adult Membership. Youth
and Senior Memberships are $33.00. Memberships are for one
calendar year starting January 1st. and ending December 31st.
Prorated Fees are usually available for a Family / Individual Adult
Membership starting Sept.1st. to Dec. 31st. Any available prorated
prices will be listed on our membership application forms. The lock
on the gate always changed every January. After trying working /nonworking
memberships in past years the club has voted to just have working
memberships. No one will be keeping up with who works or not, but
the future of this club is in your hands. Whether this club moves
forward, backward, or stays at the same level will depend on how
much effort it's members are willing to put out. Membership dues do
not cover the expenses of this club's operations for a year. Not
even close! So with reasonably low membership dues, we may have to work a
little harder. We can continue to improve our club and it's
facilities with your help and support. Cowtown Bowmen is a Archery
Club and not just an Archery Facility. I know everyone's time is
limited, but please help when and where you can. Working together we
can have a great club!
If you would like to join Cowtown Bowmen or need to
renew your membership please see
Join Cowtown for online membership applications. You can now Join
or Renew & Pay Online.
