News Highlights from Past Years

I have left a few of the last few years News Flashes posted as a loose reference as to where we have been and maybe where we are going. You know though, if you are a member, the best way to figure this out is to get involved in your club, and if you are not a member yet, we would love to have you join us. We can always use help with directions. We have been around for about 50 years now, and hopefully, some of you will see us make 100. Good Shooting .....  Charles

2007
Jan 1 Cowtown Bowmen had to relocate. The City of  Fort Worth offered to renew our lease for $141,048.00 a year or easy monthly payments of $11,754.00 per month. Obviously a Non-profit Archery Club could not afford these prices. Our club will continue just as it has for the past 50 years. We just need a new Range for practice and tournaments. Club Meetings will still be the third Thursday of the month. We will no longer have use of the former Range/Property on Heron Drive after December 31, 2006.
Jan 1 2007 Membership Renewals are Due January 1st.   Go to: JOIN for a Online, Cowtown Bowmen Membership or Renewal application. You may also Join or Renew your Membership at one of the local Archery Shops. See Shops for more information.

Since we can not provide a practice range at this time our Membership Fees have been adjusted for those that Join/Renew in 2007. All types of 2007 Club Memberships are $25.00 at this time.

Aug 17 The Club will be sponsoring a "Big Buck Contest" again for the 2007/08 Archery Season. This contest is only open to Cowtown Bowmen members, and only includes Whitetail Bucks taken in Texas with Bow and Arrow under Fair Chase Rules. The entry fee is $5.00 and would need to be paid by or before this years archery season opens or at least before your entry is harvested. Pope & Young scoring rules will be used to determine the winner. The 1st. place winner will receive 100% of the pot. Please contact the Club Hunt Chairman Gary Gunter (phone: 214-284-2743)  for more contest information or more information on official rules. Please take some pictures of your Buck (and any other animals you harvest) whether you enter the contest or not and be sure to include them in this year's Cowtown Bowmen Hunt Log. Good luck and good hunting!

Cowtown Club Championship Rules: There will be 7 shoots for the Championship. Our 6 Club Shoots will be the Qualifiers and the 7th. shoot will be the Club Championship shoot. All shoots will consist of (30) 3-D Targets. If you would like to participate you will need to shoot at least 4 of the 6 Qualifiers and the Club Championship shoot . That would be a total of 5 of the 7 shoots. Your 4 highest Qualifier scores will be averaged an added to your Club Championship Shoot score to determine the winner. The individuals with the  highest average for 4 Qualifiers will shoot together at the Club Championship shoot. There will be one Club Champion in each IBO class. Club Scoreboard

Aug 20 Please remember that Broadhead shooting is not allowed on the Range or any of the Cowtown Bowmen property at any time. As hunting season approaches each year we have had a few people shooting broadheads into our practice, 3-D, and  2-D animal targets. Our practice bales and other targets will be severely damaged if this continues. Also there is a serious safety factor to consider and the fact that our insurance does not allow the use of broadheads on our range. Please only use field points while shooting at the Cowtown Bowmen range. We have a sign posted at the Range so everyone will know that broadheads are not allowed. Unfortunately there always seems to be a few people who don't believe the rules really apply to them. You will incur a fine or possibly loose your membership to Cowtown Bowmen if you are seen shooting broadheads anywhere on the Cowtown Bowmen property. This is a very serious matter and will be addressed accordingly. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Also see Range Rules.

Jan 31 The scores from our Club Shoot on Jan, 30th. were the first scores this year to be included in our Club Championship series. All scores I received were posted on the web site Jan. 30th. If I missed entering your score, placed you in the wrong class or you believe your score has been posted incorrectly, please let me know. Club members are not required to post their scores, but may still have their name listed just to show they shot. If you would rather not have your score posted just let me know and I will remove it. Unless there is an administrative error only the scores that are posted on the web site are currently included for the Club Championship. Our club Events Chairman keeps all of the members score cards that were turned in at each Club Shoot for verification. Scores listed on the actual score card will be your official score. Please contact the webmaster for corrections or omissions to the Club Championship Score Board. Shoot straight, but most of all HAVE FUN!

Sept 21 Don't forget to check out the Hunt Log and be sure you take pictures of your harvest this year. It definitely doesn't have to be a big buck. Any legal bow harvested animal is an accomplishment. There is a easy to use ON LINE FORM on the Hunt Log page for submitting your harvest. If you have any problems with the form just let me know.  If you can't email your pictures then just put a stamp on them and mail them to me with a note stating who you are and what you sent.  My snail mail address is: Charles Seab - 7501 Timber Ridge Court - Fort Worth, TX.  76179

I know some of our members do not hunt, but you can also email pictures (please include a description) of any other archery related activities. I will even stretch the archery part and say any good pictures you would like to share with the membership. These pictures will be posted in our club Photo Gallery. Let's get busy with that camera!

Note: All large pictures will be resized to approximately  640 x 480. This is usually the largest pictures seen on the site. Smaller pictures are fine, but resizing them larger usually affects the quality. Smaller pictures will usually not be resized. Please submit pictures in JPG format if possible. If you have any questions or need help with your pictures or the Hunt Log Form please contact the webmaster .
